Travel and Focus

Many times I’ve heard people talk about how they want to see the world and Travel, and then I’ve heard other people talk about how they just want to see the USA. Here’s the thing, I agree. I’ve gotten obsessed with Travel as I head towards retirement, and I keep thinking about all the places I want to go. But now I’m thinking about how much I enjoy double clicking. What I mean is digging in.

I just saw a post about Nafplio Greece. I’ve been thinking a lot about Grace lately, I’m trying to make it a habit to visit my cousins at the family home on Lemnos. Last year when I went to visit Lemnos and instead of staying in Athens on the way home, I went to Nafplio. I only spent three days but the reality is I could’ve spent weeks on the Peloponnese and I want to go back there. And I want to go to the rest of mainland Greece and see the mountains and the people and to drinking the culture. But I also want to go back to Italy, I love Rome. I want to see the Amalfi coast. I want to see Sicily. So I want to see a lot of places, but I also want to double click.

This is true of the United States, I sometimes fantasize about getting in my truck and just driving. Visiting every little town taking pictures of people. Asking questions, learning a little bit about each person. There’s so much to see in our country.

People ask me what I’m going do in my retirement, and they ask really hard questions like what would you do with all that free time, what work. I’m not sure there’s enough free time. I’m stacked up and stoked. I hope Stephanie is too.
